This project is planned to evacuate power from Karuma Hydropower plant to the proposed 400/220kV Uganda – Kenya Border substation. This line will serve as an alternative 400kV route for evacuation of the Karuma HPP. The Uganda Electricity Transmission Company (UETCL), has a current project under construction at 220kV coordinated under the Nile Equatorial Lakes Subsidiary Action Program (NELSAP) umbrella however, Uganda’s neighbouring countries opted to construct their initially planned for 220kV interconnector at 400kV, keeping future demands under consideration.
Environmental and Social Audit
